Korean War (25 June 1950 - 27 July 1953). This was a war between North and South Korea, in which a United Nations force led by the United States fought for the South and China fought for the North. Ground troops used mostly the same weapons that were used in WWII. One weapon that was made specifically for the Korean War was a bayonet for the M-1 Garand. The bayonets used before Korea, the soldier had to take off his mittens to put on or off. The new designed bayonet could be done with the mittens on. The museum has one of these bayonets on display mounted on an M-1 Garand. |
