Interested in Volunteering?

Being a volunteer at the Aliveo Military Museum can be a very rewarding experience. Meeting people and welcoming them to experience the museum can be downright fun. Pointing out some of the highlights of the museum and answering questions that our visitors may have is rewarding. It is something gratifying to see the eyes of a young person light up as you tell them about some of the items on display.

We need volunteers to expand the hours that the museum is open. We would like to look at expanding our hours to include Thursdays and even Sunday afternoons. To do this, it takes committed volunteers to be at the museum to greet our visitors.

Volunteers can assist in the research of the items that we have and which are being donated to the museum. The computer has been a lifesaver in researching an item to make sure it is genuine and not a replica. We also look at the history of items and what part they played in history, as well as their value.

Grant writing is another area in which volunteers are needed. The research and the writing of grants are very important to the expansion of the museum. Much of this work can be done at a person’s home for those not living in the Red Wing area.

If you would like to volunteer and be a part of educating the public about the many interesting aspects of history, contact Dale at aliveomuseum@gmail.com.
